I try not to fixate on weight, but I have made it a habit to weigh all my gear for a trip just to make me think why I am taking each item and to avoid over-packing. On my Brazeau trip in 2017 I carried 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of dried apricots for a 5 day trip. That was somewhat excessive.
