Alarm went off at 2:15 am to get out of the tent and look at the night sky. I was not overly hopefully of seeing a lot of stars or the Milky Way with Canmore and Banff being so close. Our effort to get up was rewarded by an excellent display of the Milky Way and Mars so bright it reflected off the waters of Stenton Lake. I did not get a picture of it but Micah remembers a super bright yellow meteor streaked across the sky during the night. Definitely a good night to be outside.
We went back to bed about 3 am. It is always a fulfilling experience to look into the vastness of the night sky and let your mind wander through the cosmos.
